MGAC Access Concierge

We appreciate the difficulty many of us are encountering with isolation. Our intention is to assist our past, existing and future clients by offering informal discussion/advice regarding the best way to deal with challenges and opportunities for accessibility and universal design in the built environment.

Areas of advice, include

• Universal design opportunities at masterplan and concept design stage

• Planning submission statements of compliance and planning condition response

• Design issues or opportunities

• “As built” issues

• Conflicting advice

• NCC non-compliance – deemed to satisfy or performance solutions

• Project sign off

How we can assist you:

• Send by email or use the form at the bottom of this page, to discuss the project, product or issue you have encountered. Attach any documentation that might clarify the issues

• We will conduct an informal review of the support documentation, current conditions, operational considerations or extenuating situations

• We will contact you to talk you about our “opinion or advice” for the issue at hand. Normally within 48 hours

• Depending on the service need, we will talk you through the process as to how MGAC might be able to help you resolve the issue and discuss options for a positive outcome

• If needed or requested, we can prepare a scope and fee proposal, based on the scope discussed, to formalise our opinion, provide performance solutions or conduct a further review

• Ultimately, we can provide informal or formal solutions that are not only compliant to the “reasonable provision” of the National Construction Code, but also the Disability Discrimination Act

Areas of conversation might include, but not limited to:

Compliance - COMPLY WITH WHAT?

Disability Discrimination Act and DDA Standards (Transport + Education + Premises*)

Building Code of Australia (BCA) - National Construction Code (NCC) – Deemed to satisfy or performance solution options - Parts D3 General Access / E3.6 Passenger Lifts / F2.4 Sanitary.

Notes:

• The initial advice is informal and will incur no fee

• MGAC is able to conduct a peer review of another access consultant’s opinion, determination or interpretation, however, please highlight this from the outset, as it is a requirement of our governing association

If MGAC is already on the project, please highlight who the lead consultant is, so we can provide consistency of advice

Online video discussions are available by arrangement
